Skorpion Quadline Skates

August 11th, 2009

If you’re like me, you remember the days when your quad skates were literally strapped on over your shoes and you went on your way. Also, if you’re like me, you recall when the craze of inline skating hit and quad skates were pushed to the back burner in favor of a new skate concept. Well imagine if you Skorpion Quadlinetook the strap-on design of a child’s quad skate, kept the quad wheel base, but replaced the wheels with a set of inline skate wheels. If you’ve imagined it like me, it’s entirely possible that you’ve imagined something similar to the skate pictured to the left.

This is the Skorpion Quadline, and it indeed is not a figment of your imagination. The design of the Skorpion Quadline is unique and encompasses all of the design characteristics outlined above. Instead of a traditional quad skate boot or inline skate boot, the Quadline uses your run of the mill tennis shoe. To fasten your foot in place you place your shoe in the heel cup and use a ratchet buckle closure (which is found on nearly every recreational inline skate) to tighten it down. The wheel base is wide, resembling a quad skate, but the wheels used mimick an inline skate. What you get is a skate that offers the stability of a quad, but the speed and maneuverability of an inline skate.

The base and footplate of the Quadline is made of Zytel nylon and is designed to withstand any type of skating. Zytel is used in the construction of countless other quad skates because it is lightweight, yet extremely durable. The footplate and heel cup has a soft, comfy inner sole for added protection and comfort when riding. Skorpion Brake

The suspension and steering design of the Quadline makes it versatile for both indoor and outdoor skating because it utilizes Skorpion’s “Quadcoil” design. This design positions a coil close to each wheel to absorb vibration and maintain stability. For braking, each skate comes equipped with two brakes that are attached next to each rear wheel. This gives you ample braking power and also the functionality to brake with either skate. Each brake can easily be removed and swapped with the brakes on the other skate. This will help prevent some of the brakes from wearing out before the others because you can simply rotate them every so often.

Again, the wheel design of the Quadline mimicks an inline skate and is designed to give you increased speed and maneuverability. The wheels on the Skorpion Quadline are 100mm in diameter which will allow you to achieve higher rates of speed. The Durometer rating, at 82A,  is perfect for indoor/outdoor skating so you can go anywhere and do anything with your Quadlines.

So what’s the best part? In my opinion it comes down to two things. First, Skorpion makes a Quadline for everyone, kids included. You can get a pair for each member of your family and hit the skate trail or roller rink whenever you want. Second, the health benefits that can be gained with a pair of Quadlines. Skorpion has received the recommendation of the American Heart Association (AHA) for the Quadline’s ability to improve strength in both the heart and lungs. If that’s not one of the greatest parts of the Quadline, I’m not sure what else should be.

Whether you want to get in shape, find a less expensive way to get to work, or just find an activity that you can do with your family, a pair of Quadline skates from Skorpion offers a unique alternative to inline and quad skating.
